📢 Together, We Can Build Communities Free from Violence and Harmful Practices
Population Media Center (PMC), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), is working with government institutions to prevent gender-based violence (GBV) and end female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage
📍 The initiative is reaching communities across Ethiopia:
🔹 Sidama Region: Dale and Hula woredas
🔹 South Ethiopia Region: Dasenech and Arba Minch Zuria woreda
🔹 Oromia Region: Dedo and Shebe Sombo woredas in Jimma Zone
🔹 Amhara Region: Tehuledere woreda and Dessie City in South Wollo Zone
🔹 Tigray Region: Mekelle City and Ahferom woreda
From educational radio programs and community dialogues to large-scale mobilization campaigns, PMC is helping communities speak openly, challenge harmful practices, and take collective action to protect women and girls.
With financial support from UNFPA, PMC recently conducted community mobilization campaigns in Hula woreda and Dasenech woreda. The campaigns strengthened awareness and encouraged communities to play an active role in preventing GBV and ending FGM and child marriage.
📸 These photos capture the community mobilization campaign held in Dasenech, where community members came together to stand for the safety, dignity, rights, and well-being of women and girls.

Every conversation can inspire change. Every community can take action. Together, we can create a future where every woman and girl lives free from violence and harmful practices.
